ABOUT NISHA

Nisha began her Hindustani classical vocal training at age 7 in Mumbai, learning for 10 years. After a break to pursue a career as a software engineer, she resumed training in 2011 in the USA.
She continues to learn to date from her Guru Pallavi Joshi (granddaughter of Pandit Gajananbuwa Joshi).

She holds a Visharad degree in Hindustani Classical Vocals from Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Mandal (ABGMV) in Mumbai.

She has performed Bollywood and Regional cover songs to private and public audiences of 1000+.

She has been teaching Hindustani Classical Vocals and Bollywood/Light music to beginners since 2017. She conducts lessons virtually as well as in-person. Her student base includes children (5 and over) as well as adults.

Hindustani Classical Vocal lessons
for Beginners

This class is designed for kids and adults who want to start learning Hindustani Classical Vocals. The curriculum starts with a focused regimen on “Alankars” which is essentially the alphabet and the core foundation of everything that follows. So it is absolutely necessary that the student has a good understanding of this before proceeding. The next step would be delving into “Raags” and “Taals” which is the main agenda here. In the process, various key classical concepts and terminology would be taught.

Bollywood/ Regional
Includes devotional and other light forms

Regardless of your singing background, this class focuses on learning to sing a Bollywood/light song of your choice (language no bar) preferably along with with a Karaoke track. The only prerequisite to this class would be the willingness to practice daily!
